Brain Buddies Charity Spring Ball, 17th April 2026

In January 2024 one of our beloved consultants Dr Simon Smith was diagnosed with a brain tumour. His wife Louise is a nurse at ESNEFT. Alongside her colleague Helen Bunn, Brain Tumour Cancer Nurse Specialist they set up the Brain Buddies fundraising appeal as a tribute to his bravery and resilience and to offer support to others affected by cancer. Their fundraising aims to reach £25,000 for the Cancer Wellbeing Fund and the Brain Tumour Charity.

The Brain Buddies Spring Charity Ball will be an evening of elegance, fabulous entertainment, and opportunity to give back to causes that touch so many lives. Such as, our wellbeing centres that are a lifeline, offering information and support, dignity, and hope to individuals and families facing one of life’s toughest times - a diagnosis of cancer.

If you are having cancer treatment, you may find you are at home more. You may need to turn up the heating to cope with side effects, such as weight loss, hair loss and tiredness. This means your energy bills can increase at a time when you may be unable to work or have a reduced income.
